Below are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions regarding our presidential search process:

A 16-member Presidential Search Committee, made up of faculty, staff, students and board members, will work in conjunction with the Personnel Committee of the Board of Trustees to select the next president. Appointment of the president is the responsibility of the Board of Trustees.

Yes. The search for the University’s 23rd President commenced on July 1, 2016.

Advertisements have been placed in regional and national publications, and on select websites. In addition, announcements were sent to presidents, chief academic officers and other executive and academic leaders to target qualified individuals who may be interested.

Yes, nominations of qualified candidates are welcome. A position description is available on the website at: presidentialsearch.usiouxfalls.edu/announcement. All nominations may be submitted using the email address presidentialsearch@usiouxfals.edu or by calling 605-331-6683.

After serving as the 22nd President of the University of Sioux Falls, Dr. Mark Benedetto announced his retirement effective summer 2017.

The Board of Trustees believes at this time that an interim leader is not needed. It is their desire that the 23rd President of the University begin employment prior to the start of the 2017-2018 academic year.

Certainly. The Presidential Search Committee and Board of Trustees welcome input from our campus community. The presidential search website at presidentialsearch.usiouxfalls.edu has a link labeled "Your Input" specifically for this purpose.

In addition, there will be opportunities on campus throughout the academic year for you to provide input and to receive updates. Dr. Bob Veninga, Chair of the Personnel Committee of the Board of Trustees, initiated meetings in the spring of 2016 to engage USF employees in the presidential search process. Future campus opportunities will be made available throughout the academic year as we continue to seek your wisdom, guidance, and prayers.

Members of the Presidential Search Committee have taken on a significant responsibility for the University, and in doing so, have pledged strict confidentiality regarding this search.
